About Us

When a child has a chronic illness or health care need, this can weigh significantly on a family. Parents can feel isolated and alone in their journey, especially when they lack access to the right support teams, community network or trusted resources that empower them in their decision making.

Prior to founding Communikind, Cimeran worked with over 800 families and children (0-21) of various needs as a special education teacher, researcher, and clinical program manager before she began medical school, hoping to make an incredible impact in the lives of all these families.

Her experiences in public health, education and medicine, however, convinced her that current models for pediatric care are simply not doing enough to serve an extremely large, dependent and vulnerable population: all children with any special health care requirements. Between the multitude of specialists, teachers, and providers overseeing a child’s needs, critical information regarding a child’s developmental progress are lost or trapped within ‘information silos’, inefficiently and infrequently communicated between parties.

Due to her intimate understanding of each silo, Cimeran concluded that our medical and educational architecture often leaves children and families as merely objects of a discussion, rather than the active center constituent in a continuously evolving conversation.

In the 21st century, families should have a full understanding of their child's overall health history and needs while being able to own, build and share pertinent information and resources with others. Communikind allows parents and their children to take full control of their medical and educational experience through technology that brings all the caregivers in the child’s life into an efficient and collaborative communication platform – a holistic community of care with the family at the center. Thus, families are empowered to not only reach their full potential as individuals, but also as agents of change within their communities.

Join us in building a one of a kind community. Welcome to Communikind!
